Five-day online training workshop on "Faculty Orientation Training Program for Universities"

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has organized a five-day online training workshop on "Faculty Orientation Training Program for Universities" from May 24-28, 2021 for the nominated faculty members of Government College Women University Faisalabad. This five-day workshop exclusively addresses the faculty of GCWUF. The worthy Chairman PHEC formally inaugurated the training program. While addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq thanked the Chairman PHEC for arranging the workshop and gave a brief introduction. Vice-Chancellor appreciated the Punjab Higher Education Commission for holding a series of such workshops one after another. Vice-Chancellor told that recently GCWUF accomplished a training of treasurer, of the registrar and of vice-chancellor and now the training for the faculty of the university is really very good step towards improving education standard in the universities. She talked about the real purpose of the universities, the creation of knowledge, and the implementation of new ideas on emerging vistas of life. Universities provide many opportunities for developing new research ideas from conferences and workshops. She reflected that faculty development workshops are important to introduce new methods and new developments in pedagogy to facilitate and equip the teachers according to as per demands of emerging trends in the world. In the end, she thanked Higher Education Commission for arranging faculty development training. More than eighty faculty members participated in this five-day training workshop. The technical sessions started with Introduction to Semester System. The trainer explained key features of the semester system, credit hours/contact sessions, and prospects and challenges in the implementation of the semester system. The second session covered topics related to examination policies of grading & marking systems. The third session covered assessment techniques and Bloom’s taxonomy. The instructors explained their topics effectively and embedded numerous surveys and evaluation proformas for assessing the understanding of the participants. The participants, in the end, provided very positive feedback on interactive and informative sessions of the day.
