In collaboration with National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAH), a virtual Seminar on "Introduction to Islamic Banking" was conducted by DSA and department of Islamic Studies on 15-12-2021. Mufti M. Abu Bakar Sirajuddin, Shariah Advisor Silk Bank, told that Islamic banking is defined as a banking system which is in consonance with the spirit, ethos and value system of Islam and governed by the principles laid down by Islamic Shariah. Interest free banking is a unique concept denoting a number of banking operations which avoid interest. Mr. Ghulam Shabbir, Sr. Joint Director Islamic Banking Department, State Bank of Pakistan shared his determination for the promotion of Islamic banking and to strengthen Shariah based environment. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has since 2003 put in place a high-powered Shariah Board to advise SBP on Shariah related matters. He also guided about the research trends in the said field to students and appreciated the initiative of Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, Vice Chancellor for starting BS Islamic Banking at GCWUF. Mr. Anjum Rafique, Branch Manager of Silk Bank explained the procedures of the Islamic mode of financing practically.
